White Cloud openly admit they make the most expensive electronic cigarette on the market. But they also claim to sell hand-made products of the highest quality available anywhere, which fully justifies the scary price tag. The company has been around for a while now and has gained some popularity, so we thought we’d add our own White Cloud Cigarettes review, to find out if their claims are fact or fiction.
The Cirrus e-cigarette produced by White Cloud comes in three different starter kits, the cheapest one costing a whopping $149.95, more than the priciest package offered by a lot of other competing premium brands. If the price hasn’t already scared you into clicking the “back” button on your browser, the actual contents of the kit probably will. For the above mentioned cost, you get:
- 2 Batteries
- 1 USB Charger
- 5 Smooth Draw Cartridges
- A 6 Month Warranty
And to make matters worse, the Cirrus starter kit contains their old model e-cigarette. If you want to enjoy the latest technology the company has developed, you have to fork out $239.95, for the same contents listed above, plus a user manual. Only in this case you’re getting the new Cirrus II e-cigarette, guaranteed to deliver 100 more puffs than its older sibling.
And if that’s not premium enough for you, feel free to spend your money on their deluxe starter kits, the Cirrus 3 and Cirrus 3x, which come with three batteries, as well as AC wall adapters. Sure they priced around $300, but if you want the best, you have to pay for it.
I have to say at first sight the White Cloud starter kit looked pretty poor compared to other brands previously reviewed. The standard packages don’t even include wall chargers, let alone car chargers or portable charging units. Not the best way to start a review, I know, but sometimes it’s about quality, not quantity. Let’s see if that’s the case with White Cloud e-cigarettes.
Many e-cigarette brands claim their batteries are the best on the market, that they use some kind of new technology that makes them last longer than any other similar device in the business, but most of them tend to exaggerate in the name of marketing. White Cloud Cigarettes isn’t one of these brands, and although their products cost several times as much as other premium electronic cigarettes, they are pretty good.
Take the new Cirrus II batteries, for example. On the company’s official site you aren’t served any bull about some new revolutionary technology they’ve used in developing their hardware. They are Lithium Polymer batteries, like the ones offered by most other e-cigarette manufacturers, but White Cloud takes pride in perfecting this technology and creating batteries that output more constant voltage and last a lot longer. They do seem to better than the original, but their performance isn’t what you’d call amazing, compare to the other brands, and it certainly doesn’t justify the astronomical price
Cirrus II e-cigarette batteries deliver around 250 puffs on a single charge, giving you plenty of independence from the charger, especially if you also have your second battery with you. And considering one of these babies only take up to 90 minutes to fully charge, it’s safe to say they’re worth some of that extra cash. And if these figures aren’t satisfying enough, you can opt for the Cirrus 3X which comes with smaller-size batteries that deliver over 600 puffs on a single charge. Now that really sounds impressive, and it’s nice knowing you’re covered for a whole day without even thinking about charging, but the $349.95 price of the three-battery starter kit is pretty prohibitive.
With a name like “White Cloud” you would expect these e-cigarettes to deliver the thickest vapor possible, and you’d be right. Thanks to the new cartomizsers and improved battery, the Cirrus II produces some pretty impressive hits, if you enjoy taking slow and long drags. The company’s new line was designed around a concept called “Smooth Draw Technology” which allows the users to get puffs similar to a normal cigarette, provided they take good slow draws.
I expected nothing short of flawless performance from the Cirrus II, considering its astronomic price, and I have to say I was pretty satisfied with what it delivered. Smooth, easy draw rewards you with a nice throat hit that really takes you back to those tobacco smoking days, only without the bad smell and constant coughing. To get the best result, I recommend at least one or two short puffs to prime it, before sucking in the big cloud.
One of the things a lot of White Cloud customers used to complain about was the flavors, and it wasn’t their taste they didn’t like, but the fact that they were pretty weak. But ever since the company launched the new Smooth Draw Cartomizers things have improved significantly. I for one rather enjoyed the nice tobacco that really came very close to what I use to smoke when cigarettes were my poison of choice, but flavors are matter of taste and you should take my view with a grain of salt.
In terms of diversity, White Cloud offers a decent variety of flavors. You can choose between classic tobacco (my favorite), menthol, vanilla, espresso, clove, chocolate, strawberry and the new Kick flavor (a combination of honey and cinnamon). We got the variety pack so I had a chance to try them all, and I can tell you no matter your preference, you’re going to get a nice strong aroma with each puff. I’m sticking to tobacco flavor, which was one of the best I’ve ever tasted, but if you have more of a sweet you’ll love all the others as well.
Price vs Value
This is definitely the hardest part of our review, as I find pretty tough to justify the price of White Cloud e-cigarettes, regardless of how good they are. I mean just comparing them to most other premium electronic cigarette brands, you’d get the feeling all the rest our junk, because of the big price difference, which really isn’t the case. That being said, the Cirrus II really does outperform many of the e-cigarettes I’ve tried over the years, both in terms of battery life and vapor volume. Still, not a lot of people can afford to pay this sort of cash on an e-cig, considering the current economic climate and the fact that these break down at some point, and have to be replaced.
If you’re looking for quality and aren’t willing to compromise, White Clouds e-cigarettes are an excellent option, but you can certainly find a lot of considerably cheaper alternatives out there. They are often referred to as the Rolls Royce of the e-cigarette market, so if you can afford them, go for it, but just like in the case of Rolls Royce cars, you’re spending most of the money on the brand. The company offers top-notch support, both by phone and email, which is to be expected with such a high-end product, so you don’t have to worry in case you run into any trouble.
- plenty of vapor
- satisfying throat hit
- good customer service
- astronomical price
- poor standard starter kit
- outdated Cirrus model
